I'm 5'10, 202lbs, with 25in legs at the mid thigh. size: M
Time with shorts at this review: 6 weeks
The Pros:
I got size M for these bad boys and they fit great! great range of motion and flexiblity for your deepest of squats. The opening at the thigh is large enough to fit your thighs through if you got big legs like me, but still fitted enough to make sure it complements your athletic build. for $30 a pop, you can't go wrong with these. I also like the style of it with the draw strings being thicker and, and the design accents on the sides with a small V cut for style and performance. I will definitely be getting more of these.
The Cons:
I only have 2 things that I don't like with these shorts, and none are performance related or style related; it is the utility of the pockets.
1. The pocket entry holes are about 1-2 inches too short, which make fitting a wallet and keys in one side unnecessary difficult. I find myself having to shimming around my pocket too much just trying to get my wallet out that i often have to take my keys out with it which is a hassle vs some of the other shorts out there in the market (like the Young LA brand, 101 body building shorts for comparison). not too big of a deal tbh, but for that inconvenience, I have to dock it down to 4 stars.
2. The other issue I have with the shorts is that if you have anything in your pockets (like a wallet, keys, and a phone), then the base of the pocket will sick out past your shorts while you sit down in any seated position. This is annoying because it will often flip out and you will constantly have to readjust. This can be solved if they just sew the bottom ends of the pocket to the shorts itself, but it may change the look of the outside of the shorts because of the seams and add a bit to the cost of the shorts. however, I think it can be done if they want shorts that are more comfortable to wear outside of the gym as well.
Again, the above aren't deal breakers for me and I will still get more LL shorts in the future, but they are enough for me to notice and consider another brand that doesn't have these issues. Overall, LL are a good part of shorts for the gym and I would definitely recommend getting at least 1 or 2 pairs if you are on the fence about it because it would still be money well spent!
